Keymapp, Audiobooks, and Roblox
The Ergo

Hi *|FNAME|*,

I'm happy to say we didn't get too many emails asking for Black Friday coupons, even though this year we didn't publish a blog post about the whole Black Friday thing (you can check out last year's post if you're curious). This makes me happy because it feels like people are getting to know ZSA and how we work. Thank you for being here. :)

This month's ZSA Loves post is by Robin, and it introduced me to a cool audiobook service that works to support local bookstores. I recently got my first audiobook from them, and it did not disappoint.

As always, thank you for reading, and please feel free to reply to this email with any thoughts or feedback.

All the best,
Erez

Introducing Keymapp

Introducing Keymapp

A powerful local tool

This month we officially launched Keymapp for all of our keyboards. This is a tool that displays your layout on your desktop as you work. It also includes a heatmap mode for optimizing your key assignments, as well as shortcuts for editing your layout and training on it. Oh, and it can flash firmware, too.

Featured User Interview

Emily Gerhard

Global Support Manager @ Roblox
Emily's workspace is carefully curated, right down the the color palette for everything from keycaps to cables to markers. I loved the photo from the stage play, too.
"When I’m not busy onstage, I get my creativity flowing with cosplay (the less sewing, the better) and try to hit several conventions a year to showcase my crafts."

Layout of the month

Layout of the month: Go Go Gadget Moonlander

Welcome to my layout! Some highlights: This is a 40% layout (the top and bottom rows aren't used). This is more comfortable for me and also improves my accuracy enormously! And I don't lose any functionality.

Things we liked

Test your GDP skills by speed-running a cookie consent banner

I must admit I haven't seen a consent banner quite this hard before, but the game makes a good point. How fast are you? The first run took me two minutes!

An interesting list

I don’t usually feature “content” but this was so nicely made I decided to make an exception. From Time magazine, it’s a list of lots of interesting tech from 2023. Many products were new to me.

Bad drawings — good games

This is a collection of seven simple, excellent games from the book by the same name (which I loved). You can play the games right on the site, and they’re mobile-friendly, too.

Highest license plate numbers observed

We recently took a big road trip and tried finding the highest plate numbers around us. Naturally, it turns out there’s a site just for that. These are meticulously sorted by state, and some have lengthy descriptions too. Did you know Ontario has French-language EV license plates?

Rebuild your Lego

A fan-made mobile app that scans a jumbled pile of Lego bricks and comes up with stuff you could make. Magic!

Tip: We have a subscriber-only link archive with all of the links we shared over the years. Just for you. ❤️

Get Moon

Wallpaper of the month

Just a nice, calm workspace, beautifully rendered by our 3D artist, Steve. I love the moon lamp.
