MX Red, horses, and motorcycles.
SEPTEMBER 2021
The Ergo

Hi *|FNAME|*,

Fall is officially here in Southern Ontario. We are overrun by pumpkins. In other news, we've added RGB-friendly versions of MX Red and Silent Red keyswitches to our catalog, and you can read more about them below.

This month's Tisha Talks Switches is all about Gold, which are some of my favorite switches. I know I say that every time, but the Golds do sound so great.

Also below, an interview with Vicki Tharp — an author, veterinarian, and rider.

As always, thank you for reading, and email me anytime!

All the best,
Erez

Thrilling? Exciting? A clickable fiesta?

While nobody said any of these things about MX Red and Silent Red, people do seem to love them.

Featured User Interview

Vicki Tharp

Author
A veterinarian and an author with over twenty published books, Vicki rides horses and motorcycles for fun. She also paints beautiful watercolors, one of which you can see in the interview.
"My desk is a 1950s-era kitchen table. I partially extend one of the pullout leaves, which puts the keyboard at a nice sloping angle for my wrists."

Layout of the month

Layout of the month: Moonlander macOS mastery

This keyboard layout targets macOS (translation: has not been tested on Windows) and is used as my daily driver at work, in software development.

Things we liked

The Command Line Journal

Collect your thoughts and notes without leaving the command line. Mentioned by Anna e só, whose interview will be published soon.

Free, open-source RPG system

Written largely from scratch to replicate the look, feel, and mechanics of the early RPG game systems. Simple enough for kids to play, yet still has enough depth for adults as well. Plus, I love the name.

If Reddit were a landmass

A visualization of subreddits divided into "countries" and represented as cities based on popularity. It was interesting to look for r/MechanicalKeyboards and see all the connections in the land of Hardware.

Words that don't translate

Search 500+ untranslatable words by 70+ languages and 50+ tags, or click refresh to see a new batch. We featured a blog post with a list of these, but this has more words (and fewer ads).

Go ahead, make a fancy README

Ever needed a calendar that looks great in a raw Markdown document? This generator makes it easy to create. Five different styles — and the domain name is pretty great, too.

Tip: We have a subscriber-only link archive with all of the links we shared over the years. Just for you. ❤️

Made us think

No matter how much you want to cultivate a healthy habit, you won’t be able to do it reliably if you start big.

Wallpaper of the month

This month's wallpaper is a celebration of polygons, by our designer, Joanne. I love the look (can you spot the Moonlander?). As always, available for desktop and mobile.
