Max the Cat, and Tisha Talks Switches
APRIL 2021
The Ergo

Hi *|FNAME|*,

We've been working on Tisha Talks Switches for a while now, and I'm happy to finally be releasing it. Read about it below, and listen to the first three episodes.

Out of this month's five links, I think Unsuck It is my favorite.

We've got some fun things cooking on the hardware side, but it's a bit early to share. Stay tuned. Also, I want a giant orange cat now.

All the best,
Erez

The Secret Life of Keyswitches

This month I'm excited to launch our not-a-podcast, where Tisha shares thoughts about keyswitches and the differences they make. Highly subjective, and quite fun if I do say so myself. The first three episodes are out now.

Featured User Interview

Lili Boxer

Software Engineer
With lots of natural light, beautiful artwork, and one substantial cat, Lili's workspace really pops.
"When I’m not working, I love to read, play board games, run, travel, and shoot film photography. My cat, Max, is also always around in most of those activities listed, especially work."

Layout of the month

Layout of the month: Halmak

This layout takes the key positioning benefits of Halmak as the main layout but incorporates the muscle memory from years of Dvorak and Vim on other layers, with a lot of symmetry that makes the positioning feel very natural and, importantly, easy to remember.

Things we liked

Worry less, write more.

A new version for an interesting outliner I've been tracking for years. Supports an iterative and visual approach to writing: Get the big stuff on paper first, then refine. Reorder blocks as needed.

City names are replaced by their most Wikipedia'ed resident

Not the most scientific of visualizations, but quite a fun blend of geography, pop culture, and business. Zoom in on the tiny dots!

The Tokyo subway, visualized

Click a subway and go for a ride. It's dataviz meets Transport Tycoon. All place-names are in English. There's a live webcam feature, too. An interesting way to get a digital "sense of place".

Markdown to ePub

A fast, free, and clean way to convert a Markdown document into an ePub book file (which you can then convert to a Kindle-friendly format elsewhere). No ads, doesn't require a user account.

What terrible business jargon do you need unsucked?

From "above the fold" to "wow factor" to "adverteasing", this site "unsucks" a whole bunch of buzzwords. Deeply snarky, and yet, somehow, necessary. Some strong language.

Tip: We have a subscriber-only link archive with all of the links we shared over the years. Just for you. ❤️
