Better, faster, stronger
OCTOBER 2020
The Ergo

Hi *|FNAME|*,

October was an action-packed month for us. We've got a cool new way to iterate on your layout, and two new live-training modes. If you ever wished you used your number layer more easily, you should check out the monthly announcement below.

We've been shipping more and more Moonlanders, and keeping the FAQ updated with current batch numbers and lead times. Thanks so much for all of your support and kindness!

All the best,
Erez

Numbers and prose

Numbers are not like words, and they deserve their own training experience. With our new "number and symbol" training, you can become a total numpad-layer ninja. There's also a new prose mode that's full of Cory Doctorow, and the fastest way ever to start editing your layout, from any computer.

Summer Tomaseski

Lover of Cats, Coffee, Code, and Colemak
Summer supercharges her workspace with a curved monitor, an ergonomic setup, and bright color from the art of her in-development platformer. Check it out!
"When I’m not writing code or working on my game, I read fantasy novels or play one of the Dark Souls games with my husband. I usually have a cat on me during this, which is wonderful. Happiness is a purring cat, after all!"

Layout of the month

Layout of the month: Software Dvorak Keymap

Designed for folks that software re-map their US-layout keyboards to Dvorak. Keeps close to Apple US-layouts that have been Dvorak-remapped, doesn't require layer switching for typing, works well for C-like programming languages with lots of brackets and symbols, and features letter-based shortcuts for cursor movement.

Things we liked

Improve your typing for free online by practicing on classic literature.

A simple and fun experience: Pick a book like 1984 or Alice in Wonderland, and go to town, typing to your heart's content.

Cat, with syntax highlighting

Also integrates with git, shows non-printable chars, and plays nice with other tools

Tens of thousands of players

Play board games online. A wise selection and a nice UI. Free tier is pretty generous, and the paid one is reasonably priced.

Old-skool static sites

Yup, it's pretty much what it sounds like: GeoCities all over again, but with panache. Here is a pretty great example.

The Premiere Mac Automation Software

I recently made the jump to Mac, and Keyboard Maestro is kind of like AutoHotkey, but much better. Supremely powerful automation, from text expansion all through to sophisticated workflows with conditionals. No code, all visual.
